His Excellency, President David Granger has articulated his vision for Capital Towns and economic development in all 10 regions.
His vision for this new model of region development surrounds the eradication of a colonial compound mentality and replace it with a mindset of promoting businesses, driving economic development and giving leadership.
It hinges on the realization that the regional system is not an appendage of central government but rather a driver of local economic empowerment through sustained revenue generation initiatives and entrepreneurial support mechanisms that would eventually wean the system off of the government’s resources.
The regional authorities must work together with municipalities and Neighbourhood Democratic Councils (NDCs) to provide support and assistance where needed.
